Nano-ceramics have received a considerable attention during the last two decades due to their capability to demonstrate improved or unique characteristics as compared to conventional bulk ceramic materials. Gd2Zr2O7 powders, synthesised by Solution combustion synthesis, were investigated in detail for the defect fluoritepyrochlore phase transition behaviour below 1500°C. Our Xrd and Raman analyses clearly reveal the structural phase transition in this system. X-ray diffraction data analyses confirm that there is a defect fluorite structure in Gd2Zr2O7 , having cubic lattice. The rearrangement in anionic sublattice in this system during structural phase transition from the Pyrochlore phase to disordered fluorite results in the shift in Pyrochlore-related peak. Band gap energy of the sample was obtained from UV-Visible spectroscopic analysis of the sample. It was found to be 4.82 eV
