Abstract :

A series of novel 4-substituted-thieno[2,3-d]-pyrimidin-4-ylamines have been synthesized and tested for anti-oxidant activity. The synthesized 11 compounds all have shown anti-oxidant activity that differs in potency. The compounds were subjected to three methods to analyze their anti-oxidant potential a) DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) scavenging method, a) Hydrogen peroxide scavenging method and c) Nitric oxide radical scavenging method. Among the test compounds SLNA2, SLNA3 SLNA4, SLNA7 and SLNA9 have good potential as anti-oxidants.

Abstract :

The aim of the present study is to evaluate in-vitro antiinflammatory activity for novel substituted thienopyrimidines. The role of thienopyrimidine as anti-inflammatory agent is well established. Among thienopyrimidines, research in the field of thieno[2,3-d] pyrimidines analogs is growing continuously due to their similarity to nucleic acids which play major role in viability of the cells. Hence many people involved themselves for the invention of new methods and also new analogs of thienopyrimidine molecule for their wide range of activity.

Abstract :

A new mixed ligand complex has been prepared by reaction of chloride salts of Cu(II) with Shiff base 2-((E)-4-(E)-phenal-diazenyl) phenol [PDIMP=(HL1)] and (Z)-2-((P-Tolylimino) methyl) phenol [TIMP=(HL2)]. Both the ligand/complexes were charecterised on the basis of microanalysis, melting point, conductivity, solubitity, determinating of the metal content M%, IR, and UV/VIS spectral studies. The schiff bases acts as a monobasic bidentate ligands, coordinating through deprotonated phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms. The complexes are non-electrolytic in DMSO.From the analytical and spectral data the stoichiometry of these complexes have been found to be [M(L1)(L2)(H2O)2]. Where M=Cu(II). The electronic absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements suggest the square planer geometry for the copper (II) ion.The in vitro antibacterial activities of the complex was test using number of bacteria species such as Escherichia coli,Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptocuccus pyogenes, and Basillus subtilis. The Schiff bases acts as a monobasic bidentate ligands, coordinated phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogen atoms.

Abstract :

Plants play one of the most important roles in our ecosystem. But the rapid decline in the variety of plants is an issue which demands our immediate attention The first logical step would be the identification of the plant Zanthozylum alatum Raxb. Manual identification can often be time consuming and inaccurate. Plants also play a major role in ayurvedic and modern forms of medicine. Medicinal Plant used very much in herbalism to study the medicinal properties of the plants. There is an urgent need to identify and classify the medicinal plants. In this experiments Zanthozylum alatum Raxb. Indian and Bhutan medicinal plant is identified and classified. This study is important in order to assist local community to utilize the knowledge and application of Indian and Bhutan medicinal plant for future generation.

RAKESH MANI MISHRA

Department of Chemistry, Harishchandra P.G. College, Varanasi (India)

Abstract :

Ten 2-aryl, 7-alkyl/aryl-5-hydro 1,3,4-thiadiazolo [3,2-a], [1,3,5]-triazine (IIIa-j), 2-aryl, 7-alkyl/aryl 1,3,4-thiadiazolo [3,2-a] [1,3,5]-triazine 5-ones (IVa-j) and their thiones (Va-j) each, have been synthesized by chemoselective cyclization of corresponding 2-amidino-5-aryl 1,3,4- thiadiazole (IIa-j) with HCHO/Toluene, ClCOOEt. and CS2/KOH respectively. The required amidines (IIa-j) were prepared by reacting 2- amino, 5-aryl 1,3,4-thiadiazole (Ia-e) either by reaction of alkyl cynide or aryl cynide (R-CN). Above compounds were evaluated for fungitoxicity against two fungal species, viz. Alternaria solanai and Puccinia graminia tritici and the screening results correlated with structural features of the tested compounds.

Abstract :

The kinetics of oxidation of mixture of Malonic acid +Tartaric acid by Chromic acid has been studied in presence of Hydrochloric acid at 28ºC.The reaction follows first order kinetics with respect to each substrate, oxidant and hydrogen ion concentration. Ostwald isolation method is used for study of rate of reaction. With increase in the concentration of Hydrochloric acid the rate constant of the system increased. The oxidation of mixture of acids was studied at different
concentration of Hydrochloric acid. The rate constant, catalytic constant, dielectric constant and temperature coefficient have been determined for all the runs. The probable products of oxidation are CO2 and carbonyl dicarboxylic acid. Various thermodynamic parameters like energy of activation and frequency factor were also determined. The probablemechanism with result obtained has been proposed with the following  rate equation.
