The peristaltic motion of an incompressible Jeffrey fluid with variable viscosity in a two-dimensional symmetric channel under the long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions is investigated. Analytical solutions are obtained for axial velocity and axial pressure gradient. The effects of viscosity parameter a, material parameter l1 and amplitude ratio f on the pumping characteristics and the friction force are studied through graphs in detail.
