This method has been developed for quantitative determination of gallic acid in the isolated, dried flowers of Nymphaea Stellata. Hydroalcoholic extract of N. Stellata was used on silica gel 60 F254 plates with Toluene: ethyl acetate: formic acid, 8.7:7:0.7 (v/v/v), as mobile phase. Quantitation and detection were performed by densitrometric scanning. The proposed method provide an enough resolution of gallic acid from other constituents within hydroalcoholic extract used in this study.
